Maths Tutor

As a Maths Tutor you will be primarily responsible for the required academic support for the children aged 6 – 16 at our Tuition Centre assigned to you. You will be teaching Maths as a specialised tutor in the subject. We will expect you to attain the highest standards of regulatory and ethical compliance and customer satisfaction, and in return will provide you with a comprehensive range of innovative teaching techniques and a truly supportive environment.

As a Tutor, your main responsibilities will involve:

  • Teach students from primary level to A levels the required study skills in Mathematics, note-taking skills, and test-taking strategies.
  • Monitor student performance or assist students in academic environments.
  • Design and implement methods of assessing the performance of students,
  • Meet students at the centre and make sure students finished the assigned homework in the applicable subject area
  • Ask students about specific topics or subject areas that are giving them trouble or that warrant further exploration
  • Review recent homework assignment and test scores, and work through problems or questions that the student did not answer correctly
  • Co-ordinate and undertake the evaluation of assessments and awards grades of merit based upon performance;
  • Provide private academic, vocational and other instruction to individuals or groups at the centre;
  • Employ proven study aides to prepare for upcoming tests and quizzes
  • Take notes during tutoring sessions to follow up with the student later
  • Communicate with parents/guardians about trouble areas or any other issue that requires attention
  • Research or recommend textbooks, software, equipment, or other learning materials to complement tutoring.
  • Research and prepare quality study materials and create content for the publications of the centre
  • Prepare and facilitate tutoring workshops, collaborative projects, or academic support sessions for small groups of students on special occasions
  • Participate in training and development sessions to improve tutoring practices or learn new tutoring techniques.
  • Organise tutoring environment to promote productivity and learning.
  • Review class material with students by discussing text, working solutions to problems, or reviewing worksheets or other assignments.
  • Provide feedback to students using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
  • Prepare lesson plans or learning modules for tutoring sessions according to students’ needs and goals.
  • Maintain records of students’ assessment results, progress, feedback, or school performance, ensuring confidentiality of all records.
  • Identify, develop, or implement intervention strategies, tutoring plans, or individualised education plans (IEPs) for students.
  • Develop teaching or training materials, such as handouts, study materials, or quizzes.

As a Tutor, your skills and qualifications will include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree level qualification in Maths/Science required
  • Teaching qualification preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience tutoring children and teenagers
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Able to develop positive rapport with students
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Established proficiency in subject matter
